The Epson Stylus SX200 is a stylish looking and well-built unit that prints, scans and copies and doesn’t even need to be connected to a PC most of time. The Stylus SX200 also incorporates a memory card reader which reads various formats including XD/SD/MS pro and CF cards, and a port for PictBridge-enabled cameras. Epson SX200 ink cartridges consist of four individual CMYK DURABrite pigment ink cartridges. The advance to this single ink system is you only need to replace inks that are depleted; pigment Epson inks cartridges also guarantee a longer print life. These printer cartridges are also affordable at around £30 when bought in a multi-pack. The SX200 has a simple well organized control panel on the top with controls for power on, stop, index sheet, and number of copies, paper size, black copy, and colour copy. The copy facility is geared more towards copying text documents as the results of copying of photos was a bit poor but results for plain text documents were excellent. The scanner however is perfectly capable of scanning high resolution photograph with amazingly level of detailed in its highest setting. The scanner also comes with photo editing software as well as OCR software for converting printed text documents into editing files. The print produced by the SX200 is excellent and goes far behind what you would except from a printer in the price range, photos are especially beautiful with rich vibrant colours. The only weak point of the SX200 is its printing speed and although Epson claim it capable of 34ppm (pages per minute) it only capable of an average of 4ppm in standard quality mode. Apart from printing speed the Epson Stylus SX200 ticks all the boxes.
